Yappy Hour – By Ann Hagerty
The Briargate scene is really going to the dogs-but that's not a bad thing! Like a lot of dog owners, you're probably more inclined to like people or even patronize a business that's pet-friendly. Thankfully, the Colorado PETacular magazine is taking the work out of discovering who those people and businesses are at the Promenade Shops at Briargate while kicking off the holiday season.
From 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 15th, the PETacular is hosting its first "PETacular Yappy Hour" event. Think 'hip outing' to which you can bring your dog; PETacular publisher Audree Grubesic says this will be a premiere doggie mingle and networking event that includes pups at hand.
"It's for people that love their dogs and want to meet others who are the same way. We are creating an event at Ted's Montana Grill patio area. Ted's will be offering Bristol Brewing Company Laughing Lab beer, wine, lemonade, and appetizers for purchase," Grubesic explained. The PETacular publishers hope to make the event a regular quarterly feature at the Promenade Shops at Briargate.
Even if you're more wallflower than butterfly, everything's more fun when you bring your dog along, and Petacular Yappy Hour's no exception. Pets make a great icebreaker, as we all know. Plus, you can purchase great holiday gift certificates for the person that has it all and wants to spoil his or her dog. Special Petacular Yappy Hour discounts are featured in the Yappy section along with event specials on Saturday, November 15.
Central Bark Doggie Daycare will have a special dog park area (pups must have current vaccinations if you want to have your dog socialize for the entire event) and will be offering boarding package discounts. The admission for the park is $5.00 for all day dog fun.
Sit Means Sit Dog Training will be featuring TWO demonstrations at 3 and 4 p.m. in the front parking lot of Ted's Montana Grill. Come out and watch how a well-behaved dog interacts with other dogs-you'll want to sign your dog up on the spot!
PETCO will be giving away special treats for your pup all day long, along with wonderful after pet care programs and products provided by Homeward Bound-because the love for your pet never ends.
Animal Emergency Care Centers will have their very own pet ambulance showcased outside for inspiring veterinarian to learn more about vet care. Dr. Gaynor of Peak Veterinary Rehab will be displaying information on rehabilitation and canine blood donations with HemoSolutions.
Bob Penkhus will be displaying their Mazda CX-9, which is the perfect family SUV for you and Fido. Check out the latest comforts, great mileage, and opportunities to test drive at the Woodmen location.
Look for the tear-out postcard from Pikes Peak Allergy and Asthma to mail in for more information on allergies affecting you and your family. They are a great resource for pet owners suffering from pet allergies, and how to best treat them.
"We want well behaved dogs and owners to interact, owners to eat food, meet new dogs, and enjoy a stress-free environment one day out of the month this holiday season," said Audree Grubesic. Music from The Peak 92.9FM will have their morning host Joe Cicero and Tammy Oakland mingle with the pet owners.
FOX21 will have their crews out photographing this exciting dog event. Also featured at this event is a special expo area featuring the following businesses: 123ETCHED.com, Bed N' Biscuit, Camp Bow Wow, Colorado College Tiger Hockey, Colorado Canine Orthopedics, Colorado Springs Thunder Inline Hockey, Critter Clips Grooming Salon and School, Face Logic Spa, Fetch! Petcare, Four Paws on the Go Mobile Grooming, K9 Klean-up, Petworth, Tocarre Massage Clinic, and Trupanion Pet Insurance; offering holiday gifts items, new pet products, and other pet and non-pet related services.
For the online aficionados, Yappy Hour will also feature podcasting from Cyber Dog Media and live interviews featured on the Colorado PETacular’s website, www.petpubsusa.com. At last, your dog can get the virtual audience he's always craved!
And of course, the community-minded PETacular publishers are including an easy way to help homeless animals in the Pikes Peak Region. All on-site donations will benefit the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, which shelters more than 23,000 abandoned pets from our community every year. Shelter representatives will be present with pets available for adoption, as well.
Dogs wanting to yap it up will need to be well-behaved, crowd-friendly, and have up to date immunization records. Owners should plan to keep their dogs' on-leash, except when their pooches are mingling in the doggie social area, of course. If you're looking to meet other fun-loving pet owners in the Pikes Peak Region, PETacular Yappy Hour is a don't-miss event! For more information, visit www.petpubsusa.com or call 719-260-8177. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, November 15th, rain, snow, or shine from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Promenade Shops at Briargate, Ted’s Montana Grill patio area. It's going to be doggone fun!
